Official Public Notices for Friday, 20 March 2026

Brisbane City Council and state authorities have issued several critical updates for residents and commuters regarding infrastructure projects, urban planning deadlines, and public health safety measures active for Friday, 20 March 2026.

Major Traffic and Roadwork Alerts

Significant traffic disruptions are expected in the CBD and on major motorways starting Friday evening. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and allow for extra travel time.

  • Brisbane City Crane Works: Changed traffic conditions will commence at 8:00 PM on Friday, 20 March. Eagle Street will undergo a full closure between Charlotte Street and Market Street to facilitate crane operations. Additionally, a contraflow will be in place on Market Street between Mary Street and Charlotte Street. These restrictions will remain until 5:00 AM Monday, 23 March.
  • Logan Motorway Ramp Closures: The eastbound on-ramp from Boundary Road/Skepper Street in Parkinson will be closed from 8:00 PM Friday, 20 March. This closure is part of scheduled maintenance and is expected to reopen by Monday morning.
  • Park Maintenance: Maintenance work at Robertson Park, Indooroopilly, involving the installation of new log rails and gates, is scheduled for completion today. Restricted access to the work zones will remain in effect until the conclusion of the shift.

Urban Planning and Community Consultation

Today marks a critical deadline for residents wishing to influence future housing density and design within the city.

  • More Homes, Sooner Amendment: Friday, 20 March 2026, is the final day for public submissions regarding the citywide amendment for low-medium density residential design. The proposed changes aim to support housing diversity by refining requirements for duplexes and small-lot houses. Residents are encouraged to lodge their formal feedback through the Council’s planning portal before the close of business.
  • Parking Services: Residents are reminded that the PayStay parking app is now fully operational as an additional pay-by-app provider across Brisbane, following its launch earlier this week.

Public Health Advisories

Queensland Health remains on alert following recent weather events and international travel risks.

  • Melioidosis Warning: Following recent unseasonal rainfall and flooding, health authorities remind residents to avoid direct contact with muddy water and soil. There has been a rise in melioidosis cases across the state; those with underlying health conditions or open wounds should take extra precautions when gardening or cleaning outdoors.
  • Measles Alert: A public health alert remains active for Brisbane International Airport. Individuals who have recently transited through the terminal are advised to monitor for symptoms, including fever and a blotchy rash, and to contact their GP ahead of arrival if they suspect infection.
