Mid-Week Culture and Connection in Brisbane

Happy Wednesday, Brisbane! As we move through the first week of February 2026, the city offers a diverse lineup of events ranging from thought-provoking cinema and major art exhibitions to community wellness workshops and social evening strolls. Whether you are looking to immerse yourself in the arts or connect with locals, there is plenty to see and do across the river city today, Wednesday, 4 February.

Art and Screen

For those seeking a cultural fix, the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is hosting a free screening of the 2022 film Pacifiction. Starting at 6:00 PM at GOMA, this 165-minute cinematic journey offers a unique look into contemporary storytelling. Additionally, the blockbuster exhibition Olafur Eliasson: Presence continues to captivate visitors at GOMA, offering an immersive sensory experience that explores the relationship between light, water, and air.

In the heart of Fortitude Valley, Mitchell Fine Art is presenting its Director's Choice exhibition. The gallery is open from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, showcasing a curated selection of works from leading Aboriginal and Contemporary artists. It is a perfect opportunity for a quiet mid-week gallery hop in one of the city's premier arts precincts.

Community and Wellness

If you are looking for personal growth or a supportive environment, the North West Brisbane Community Hub in Bardon is hosting an Anxiety Management Tools workshop. Facilitated by an experienced counsellor, this session runs from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It is designed to provide practical strategies and a safe space for reflection and learning within a community-focused environment.

For morning birds, the Common Grounds Women's Business Network is holding a coffee meetup in Albany Creek starting at 9:30 AM. This is an excellent chance for local professionals to network and share ideas over a morning brew.

Evening Socials and Outdoor Fun

As the sun begins to set, why not head to the coast for the Bayside Evening Walk? This social group walk starts at 5:59 PM, taking participants on a scenic route from Manly to Wynnum North. It is a fantastic way to enjoy the bay breezes and meet new friends while staying active.

For a more nostalgic evening, Rooftop Movies is screening the Y2K classic Charlie’s Angels. Enjoy the fierce action and city skyline views as the divas take to the screen for some high-energy spy fun. Meanwhile, in the West End, movie buffs are gathering for a screening of Terminator 2: Judgment Day starting at 6:00 PM, hosted by local community groups.
