Public Service Announcement: Heavy Rainfall and Flooding Advisory

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a forecast for heavy rainfall across the Brisbane region for the weekend of Saturday, 14 February 2026. Residents are advised that intense precipitation in the coming days may lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas and within creek catchments. Brisbane City Council is urging the community to remain vigilant, clear gutters of debris, and never drive through floodwaters. Please monitor the Council's Emergency Dashboard for real-time updates on creek levels and potential local flooding hazards.

Traffic and Parking: Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

Major traffic and parking changes are currently in effect in Petrie Terrace and the Lang Park Traffic Area to accommodate the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo International 2026. Special conditions will remain active throughout Saturday, 14 February, at and around Suncorp Stadium. The Lang Park Traffic Area has been fully activated, meaning parking restrictions apply to all on-street spaces for non-residents. Police and traffic controllers will be stationed throughout the precinct to manage pedestrian and vehicle flow. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area or allow significant extra travel time.

Infrastructure and Roadwork Notices

Several significant road closures and construction projects will impact travel on Saturday:

  • Keperra: Lapilli Street and Mungarie Street remain closed to all traffic due to ongoing planned roadworks. Local diversions are in place.
  • Albion: Construction and maintenance activities continue on Hudson Road and Sandgate Road. Expect delays and reduced speed limits.
  • Annerley: Ongoing works on Ipswich Road may result in lane closures and changed traffic conditions between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
  • Acacia Ridge: Maintenance crews are active on Learoyd Road and Mortimer Road; motorists should exercise caution.

Community Facility and Regulation Updates

The Ashgrove Library remains temporarily closed this Saturday as part of a major air conditioning system upgrade. The facility is expected to reopen in mid-March 2026. Additionally, residents are reminded that the public consultation period for the proposed Short Stay Accommodation Local Law 2025 is nearing its conclusion. Submissions regarding the regulation of short-term rentals must be received by Council no later than Monday, 16 February 2026.

Health and Safety Alerts

Queensland Health has maintained a national recall advisory for various alfalfa sprouts produced by Parilla Fresh due to potential Salmonella contamination. Residents are urged to check their refrigerators and dispose of any affected products immediately. Furthermore, due to the current storm season, the public is reminded to avoid contact with any distressed or dead bats found on the ground, as they may carry the Australian Bat Lyssavirus. If you encounter a bat, please contact a local wildlife rescue service or the RSPCA.
