Infrastructure and Park Maintenance
Brisbane City Council continues its commitment to improving local amenities with several park improvement projects active this Thursday, 19 March. Residents and visitors are advised of the following work area and playground closures to facilitate essential upgrades and safety maintenance:
- Ashgrove: Sunset Park remains closed for electrical compound construction. This work is scheduled to conclude by tomorrow, 20 March, pending weather conditions.
- Bulimba: The playground at Bulimba Memorial Park is currently closed to the public as crews install new play equipment, shade structures, and safety fencing.
- Coorparoo: Renovations are underway at the Wills Street Park playground. The site is restricted for the installation of new play forts, surfacing, and associated landscaping works.
- Indooroopilly: Robertson Park is undergoing facility upgrades today, including the installation of log rails and gates. Access to the immediate work zone is restricted.
- Forest Lake: Picnic facilities at The Lake Parklands are temporarily unavailable while Council staff replace seating and benches. The picnic area is expected to remain closed through late March.
- Brisbane City: Restoration efforts continue at the Mooney Memorial and Fountain Reserve. The cleaning and restoration of the memorial require the surrounding work area to remain closed to pedestrians.
Roadworks and Traffic Advisories
Planned roadworks and temporary lane occupancies are in effect across the city. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time or seek alternative routes in the following areas:
- Brisbane City: Essential roadworks are taking place on Adelaide Street between Creek Street and Edward Street. Furthermore, Eagle Street remains fully closed to all through traffic between Creek Street and Mary Street for planned maintenance.
- Albion and Balmoral: Today marks the final scheduled day for major excavation works across various street locations in these suburbs. Heavy machinery may be present until 6:00 PM.
- Banyo: New road maintenance projects commence today on St Vincents Road. Traffic control is on-site to manage lane reductions as works begin on this multi-week project.
- Parkinson: Nightly ramp closures continue on the Logan Motorway. The eastbound off-ramp to Beaudesert Road will be closed to all traffic from 8:00 PM tonight until 5:00 AM Friday morning.
