Official Noticeboard: Service Resumptions and Infrastructure Advisories for April 7

Post-Easter Waste and Resource Recovery Notice
Brisbane City Council reminds residents that all residential bin collection services remain active today, Tuesday, 7 April 2026. Following the Easter long weekend, collections continue to operate on their standard schedule. Residents are advised to place their general waste, recycling, or green waste bins at the kerbside by 5:30 AM on their designated collection day to ensure service. Council also notes that the kerbside large-item collection schedule for April remains in effect for scheduled suburbs; please verify your specific week via the official bin and recycling app.
Public Health: 2026 Free Flu Vaccination Program
Queensland Health has officially activated the 2026 Free Flu Vaccination Program. Starting this April, all Queenslanders aged six months and older are eligible to receive a free influenza vaccine to ensure protection before the peak of the respiratory season. Health authorities specifically recommend that children aged two to five years receive the newly available nasal spray vaccine, which is provided at no cost through participating GPs and pharmacies. Annual vaccination is recommended even for those who received a 2025 formulation late last year, as the 2026 trivalent vaccine has been updated to target current circulating strains.
Major Rail Network Disruptions: April 3–26
Commuters are advised that significant track closures are currently in effect across the South East Queensland rail network as part of the ongoing Cross River Rail transformation. From today through Sunday, 26 April, the following service changes apply:
- Buses will replace trains on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines for the duration of the works.
- Track closures remain active for the Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Redcliffe, Doomben, Shorncliffe, and Airport lines through April 11.
- Major construction activities are centered at Salisbury station, where crews are removing old structures and installing new foundations for the European Train Control System (ETCS).
Passengers should allow extra travel time and plan their journeys using the Translink website or app, as rail-replacement buses may follow modified routes.
Infrastructure and Local Road Works
In the CBD, the eastbound lane on Mary Street adjacent to the Albert Street station worksite remains closed to all vehicles. This closure is expected to persist through late 2026 to facilitate station fit-outs. Additionally, motorists in the Salisbury area should expect intermittent single-lane closures on Fairlie Terrace and Lillian Avenue throughout April for utility installations and heavy vehicle access. Traffic control and signage will be in place to manage flow during standard working hours from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
