City Notice Roundup: Monday, 23 March 2026

Brisbane City Council and Queensland Health have issued a series of public service announcements and official notices active for Monday, 23 March 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to review the following updates regarding major infrastructure projects, health advisories, and changes to local amenities.

Traffic and Transport Advisories

Major traffic changes in the Central Business District and surrounding suburbs conclude this morning, while new overnight maintenance begins later today. Commuters should be aware of the following conditions:

  • Eagle Street Closure: The full closure of Eagle Street between Charlotte Street and Market Street, which supported major crane works over the weekend, is scheduled to reopen at 5:00 AM this morning. Market Street's contraflow conditions will also cease at this time.
  • Logan Motorway (Ellen Grove): The eastbound on-ramp from Boundary Road and Skepper Street is set to return to normal operations from 5:00 AM today following the completion of planned roadworks.
  • Ipswich Road Maintenance: Overnight roadworks are scheduled to commence tonight at 8:00 PM on Ipswich Road between Carville Street and Waldheim Street in Annerley. Drivers should expect contraflow conditions and minor delays until 5:00 AM Tuesday.
  • Jeays Street (Bowen Hills): Public utility maintenance will restrict parking lanes in all directions starting at 8:00 PM tonight. Work is expected to conclude by early tomorrow morning.

Public Health Alerts

Metro South Health has issued a reminder to the community regarding an ongoing measles alert for the greater Brisbane region. Due to a confirmed case visiting multiple locations while infectious, residents are urged to monitor for symptoms including fever, tiredness, and a blotchy rash. Authorities recommend checking vaccination records to ensure two doses of the MMR vaccine have been received.

Additionally, Queensland Health reports an uptick in melioidosis cases following the recent wet season. Residents are encouraged to wear waterproof footwear and gloves while gardening or handling soil, particularly if they have underlying health conditions.

Park and Recreational Closures

Several major park upgrade projects remain active this week, requiring the temporary closure of facilities to ensure public safety:

  • The Lake Parklands, Forest Lake: The picnic area remains closed for facility upgrades through Thursday, 26 March.
  • Bulimba Memorial Park: The playground is currently closed for comprehensive equipment upgrades and the installation of new shade structures, with an expected reopening in mid-April.
  • Wills Street Park, Coorparoo: Playground renovation works continue today. The area is inaccessible while crews install a new play fort and specialized safety surfacing.

Council Administration and Tenders

The Brisbane City Council is currently in its Autumn Recess. No ordinary Council or standing committee meetings will be held this week. Regular sessions are scheduled to resume in May. Additionally, today marks the closing date for the public tender regarding Displacement Mitigation of Concrete Footpaths (RFx: Doc93625607). All submissions must be lodged by the close of business today.
