Public Notice: Traffic and Community Health Roundup – Saturday, 7 March 2026

City Infrastructure and Traffic Disruptions
Brisbane City Council and the Department of Transport and Main Roads have issued several alerts regarding road closures and construction works scheduled for completion or active progress on Saturday, 7 March 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays.
- Bowen Hills Special Event: In preparation for and during the Performance Pulse Expo, Gregory Terrace will undergo a full closure to all vehicles. This closure is effective from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Saturday, 7 March. Changed parking and traffic conditions will be enforced throughout the Bowen Hills precinct.
- Ashgrove Construction Completion: Significant construction works on Tay Street are scheduled to conclude on Saturday, 7 March. Motorists should remain alert for final site clearances and potential minor traffic control measures as the project transitions to its next phase.
- Acacia Ridge Maintenance: Ongoing infrastructure works continue on Learoyd Road and Mortimer Road. While these roads remain open, reduced speed limits and temporary lane closures are in effect through mid-March.
- Alderley and Annerley Roadworks: Active sites remain on South Pine Road and Enoggera Road in Alderley, as well as Ipswich Road in Annerley. Local diversions may be in place during peak Saturday travel times.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Vigilance
Queensland Health has updated its standing health alerts following the notification of additional measles cases in early March. As of 7 March 2026, health authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant for symptoms, particularly those who have recently visited Brisbane International Airport or high-traffic areas in the Sunshine Coast and Cairns regions.
Measles is a highly contagious viral infection. Residents are encouraged to check their immunization status and consult a medical professional if they develop a high fever, cough, runny nose, or a characteristic red blotchy rash. To prevent community spread, individuals experiencing symptoms should phone their GP ahead of time rather than presenting unannounced at clinics or emergency departments.
Parks and Community Notices
Council facilities and gardens remain open for public use, with specific events scheduled for the weekend. Visitors to Mount Coot-tha should be aware of increased local traffic for the following:
- Brisbane Annual Palm and Cycad Show: Taking place at the Botanic Gardens Auditorium from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, 7 March. Public parking near the auditorium may be limited.
- Mosquito Management: Following recent aerial treatments in early March, residents are reminded to take personal precautions against mosquito bites. Council continues to monitor breeding sites across low-lying catchments.
For real-time updates on traffic conditions, residents are encouraged to monitor the QLDTraffic platform, and for public transport disruptions, the Translink service update portal should be consulted.
