Official City Roundup: Saturday, 28 March 2026

Brisbane City Council and state authorities have issued several public notices and health advisories active for Saturday, 28 March 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the following updates regarding transport changes, public health alerts, and local park maintenance to plan their weekend activities accordingly.

Public Transport and Traffic Impacts

Extensive track work is scheduled for the rail network this weekend, significantly affecting commuters in the inner northern suburbs. Translink has confirmed that all services on the Inner City and Ferny Grove lines will experience disruptions starting Saturday morning.

  • Inner City Track Work: Between Albion and Roma Street stations, trains will run express via the Exhibition line. Rail replacement buses will operate in both directions to service affected stations.
  • Airtrain Services: All services to and from the Brisbane International and Domestic airports will be impacted. Travelers should allow at least 30 minutes of extra travel time and use the Translink journey planner for updated schedules.
  • Run Army 2026 Parking Restrictions: In preparation for Sunday's event, 'No Standing Tow Away' zones will be implemented from 7:00 PM tonight on Grey Street (South Brisbane), Ellis Street (Kangaroo Point), and Makerston Street (Brisbane City). Russell Street in South Brisbane will also remain under changed traffic conditions throughout the day.

Public Health Advisory: Measles Alert

Queensland Health continues to monitor a measles alert for the Brisbane area following confirmed cases. Residents who were present at the Brisbane International Airport arrivals terminal on March 19 between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM are advised to remain vigilant for symptoms through the weekend. Symptoms typically include fever, lethargy, a runny nose, and a blotchy red rash. If symptoms develop, residents should contact their GP or call 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84) immediately rather than visiting a clinic unannounced.

Park Maintenance and Closures

Ongoing infrastructure improvements mean several recreational areas remain closed to the public today to ensure safety during construction works:

  • Sunset Park, Ashgrove: The work area remains restricted due to electrical compound construction through the end of the month.
  • Bulimba Memorial Park: The playground is closed for the installation of new shade structures and equipment upgrades.
  • Wills Street Park, Coorparoo: Playground renovation and landscaping works continue; this area is expected to remain inaccessible until late April.
  • Mooney Memorial, Brisbane City: Restoration works on the memorial fountain mean the immediate work zone is closed to pedestrians.

Community Engagement Notices

Council is hosting several community-focused events today. Residents are invited to the Bridgeman Downs community street tree planting event from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM to help enhance local canopy cover. Additionally, a career open day for women interested in bus driving is being held at the Garden City Bus Depot from 8:30 AM.
