Morning: A Mild Start to the Long Weekend

Brisbane residents waking up this Saturday, 4 April 2026, can expect a mild and slightly humid start to their Easter long weekend. Early morning temperatures are predicted to sit around 19°C, with a light blanket of clouds over the CBD. There is a potential for brief, passing showers during the early hours, particularly in the coastal suburbs, with local gauges expected to record less than 1mm of precipitation. As the sun rises, these early showers are likely to clear, making way for a bright but partly cloudy morning that is perfect for early morning egg hunts or a stroll along the South Bank.

Afternoon: Peak Heat and High UV

By midday, the temperature will climb significantly toward a forecast maximum of 29°C. While the sky will remain partly cloudy, the Bureau of Meteorology suggests that the sun will break through frequently throughout the afternoon. Humidity is expected to hover around 59%, which may make the 'RealFeel' temperature slightly higher than the mercury suggests. For those heading outdoors, the UV index is rated as moderate to high, so sun protection is highly recommended between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Despite the 60% chance of rain mentioned for the broader region, the afternoon in the city is expected to remain largely dry, offering excellent conditions for backyard cricket or outdoor festivities.

Evening: Cooling Down and Bracing for Wind

As the sun sets, temperatures will gradually retreat to a comfortable 20°C by the late evening. However, the calm conditions of the day may give way to increasing winds. Onshore breezes are expected to pick up speed, reaching approximately 14 mph (22 km/h), providing a cooling effect but also signalling a shift in the coastal weather pattern. The night sky will be clear with periodic cloud cover, and no significant rainfall is expected during the overnight hours.

Warnings and Coastal Alerts

While conditions in the city are generally pleasant, a note of caution is issued for those planning to hit the water. Meteorologists have noted that it will be 'pretty windy' along the Queensland coast throughout the weekend. Marine wind warnings are expected to be in place for parts of the coastline. Furthermore, authorities are keeping a close watch on Tropical Low 37U, currently located in the Coral Sea. While it does not pose an immediate threat to the Brisbane metropolitan area today, its development into a potential cyclone next week may influence swell and wind conditions as the weekend progresses. Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay updated on coastal conditions before heading to the beach or out on boats.
